Operation Teammate: MilKids & Sports Teams Unite for Community

MilResource Radio with Linda Kreter and co-host Jason McNamara Presents:

Operation Teammate: MilKids & Sports Teams Unite for Community

Timothy Montjoy and Marques Ogden

Timothy Montjoy is retired Air Force and the founder of Operation Teammate, a group devoted to supporting military (and first responder) children with sports and connection during times of separation. Military children also serve, and the needs of children, teens, and families are often overlooked in the face of perceived larger family concerns.  Operation Teammate’s serves children ages 5-18, filling a unique and key niche. Adding first responder children broadens the peer community for both milkids and parents.

Marques Ogden, former NFL player, and now author and motivational speaker, shares how the inclusion of elite athletes who model great civic behavior and support these children and youth through organized teams and events makes a difference. Athletes give presence beyond the playing field, and illustrations are provided showing this worthy and needed component for military and first responder families. As Marques said on the program, “hearing advice from an elite athlete has significant impact, often beyond that of a parent”.

Pairing military and first responder children with local sports teams (who make them honorary members during separations) gives a unique and unforgettable experience.  It’s our pleasure to bring attention to the recognition and connection needs of children who serve.  Learn more at www.OperationTeammate.org
